When someone joins my personal coaching programme, one of the first things I ask them to do is explain exactly how they want their body to appear once they’ve reached their target weight. I request that they do it in writing rather than over the phone, and here’s why…

Are your Thoughts about your Body Preventing you from Achieving your Goals?

Negative thoughts that are deeply ingrained in our minds are what lead us to struggle with any weight reduction or health improvement programme — in fact, our previous failures can almost always be linked back to negative beliefs we didn’t even aware we had.

When we write things down on paper, most of our negative thoughts come out (or on the computer).

I dare you to write 10 short descriptions of how your body would appear in 30 days if you were taught by someone like me — someone who knows exactly how to transform the human body regardless of where you are in the game.

Take a time to write down what your face, arms, legs, and butt would look like if you were to lose weight — would your skin look different, would your muscles be tighter, would you be thinner — detail everything, then return.

Are you the one who did it?

Make your list now, before you read any further, because I want you to leave this essay with a thorough understanding of yourself.

Now that you have your list, let me show you something you can use to see if you’ve been setting yourself up to fail in your efforts to lose weight and keep it off.

Here are some examples of remarks made by a dear friend of mine prior to our collaboration — statements that were literally holding him back from success:

Face with more chiselled features, no double chin, no doughy jowls or puffy cheeks, and no bags under the eyes

Apart from a better facial form, I have no concerns about my face, hair, eyes, nose, or ears.

Aside from a better facial form, I have no concerns about my face, hair, eyes, nose, or ears.

No double chin or “wattle” on the neck

Instead of gynecomastia (womanly breasts), the chest is muscular. Look, mother, instead of a soft mattress of flab, I can see my ribcage and pectoral muscles.

Instead of soft breadsticks, the arms have rigid, sinewy contours. Instead of smooth fat, veins and muscles are visible.

Is it true that there are abs hiding in there? They haven’t appeared in over 50 years! It would be lovely to have a slim waist that isn’t slashed by too-tight underpants.

Legs are more extended and solid, with less of a conical form. Despite the fact that my calves have always been huge and firm — my best body portion, second only to my brain —

Less sag, greater shape in the buttocks

Back-could be a lot less hairy, and instead of a truncated pyramid, a “V” form would be good to see.

Can you see why he might have had some difficulty accomplishing his aim in the past?

But I’ll let you in on a little secret: this guy is in fantastic form right now, enjoying life more than ever, and it’s a pleasure to speak with him each week during our coaching calls.

WHAT MY BODY IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE
